Nylon Double Covered Spandex Yarn is a precision-engineered elastic composite yarn consisting of a 70D spandex (elastane) core double-covered with two layers of nylon multifilament in opposite directions (Z- and S-twist)-commonly expressed in the industry as 120/70/70, 140/70/70, 180/70/70, and 210/70/70. The first number denotes the total denier of the nylon covering (e.g., 120D nylon = 2 × 60D layers), while "70/70" indicates the same 70-denier spandex core wrapped on both sides.

Compared with rubber-core covered yarns, this spandex-based construction offers softer recovery power, finer gauge capability, and better performance in high-temperature dyeing and finishing processes. The increased nylon covering denier from 120D to 210D allows manufacturers to fine-tune fabric hand feel, opacity, and surface smoothness without changing the elastic core-making the same 70D spandex adaptable across multiple product categories.

120/70/70 & 140/70/70: Preferred for lightweight and medium-weight applications such as sheer hosiery, lingerie, seamless underwear, thin knitted cuffs, where a soft touch and minimal bulk are required.

180/70/70 & 210/70/70: Offer enhanced coverage and abrasion resistance, widely used in sportswear waistbands, compression legwear, sock tops, narrow elastics, and medium-support activewear.

Nylon's inherent high tensile strength, low friction coefficient, and good moisture absorption​ give the yarn an exceptionally smooth, silky surface that reduces skin irritation and improves knittability on high-speed circular and warp knitting machines. The double-cover structure fully encapsulates the spandex core, protecting it from heat, chlorine, and mechanical damage during downstream processing, and ensuring excellent stretch recovery even after repeated extension and laundering.

These yarns accept acid dyes readily, delivering vivid, colorfast shades with strong wash- and light-fastness, and are compatible with both weft and warp knitting as well as narrow fabric weaving.
